About SmartMBDTools
SmartMBDTools is a collection of software add-ons for Creo Parametric to improve the implementation of a Model-Based-Definition (MBD) infrastructure and the workflow of MBD content.
The software is designed to support Creo users that are authoring MBD content and administrators that want to provide standardized content and workflow for MBD usage.
SmartMBDTools cover the following areas:
Image Color Coding
Color coding is a method to easily make PMI visible and reliably transfer to downstream functions.
SmartMBDTools allows to apply visible and invisible information to model surfaces or quilts on a rule-based sequence or by manual user interaction. A stack of customizable legend symbols will be associatively created automatically within each Combined State.
Image Updating and harmonization
Providing a harmonized and reliable MBD infrastructure within the models is an essential part of MBD.
SmartMBDTools provides the capability to update existing models to the latest edition of the MBD infrastructure, i.e. applying missing layers, combined states or parameters. You may use the integrated checking mechanism as a gate keeping function for downstream functions.
Image Textual annotations
The usage of textual annotations is a widely used method to communicate design characteristics.
SmartMBDTools allows Creo users to select prepared texts from a database, configure the individual content and place them automatically in the intended Combined State. This can be customized in a multi-language scenario.
Image Combined State Management
Creo Combined States are the main items to structure you MBD content such as previous drawing views.
SmartMBDTools provides various functions to support the Creo user while setting up new Combined States or manage names attributes and display. It will help to group the Combined States and update to the company standard automatically.
Image Context Management
The enabler of rule-based automation within SmartMBDTools is a Context definition.
A regular Creo model parameter and its value is used to distinguish models, i.e. by type, function, location, customer. Based on this attribute SmartMBDTools can provide intended text selection, apply prepared rules or simply make dedicated information visible.
Image 2D PDF Export
Generating a 2D PDF or printout from a MBD documented model is still a widely mentioned requirement.
SmartMBDTools offers a WYSIWYG export from selected Combined States of a 3D model to a 2D PDF. Model parameters can be called out during export and a drawing format can be customized. This can run within a Windchill worker.
