About the Workflow in SMARTElectrode Extension
Start from an existing part or assembly to start the design of sinking electrodes. The workflow contains the following steps:
  1. Click Assembly  Image New to create a new electrode assembly.
  2. To define a zero point for electrodes, click Operation   ImageZero.
  3. Activate Electrode  ImageAdd to create a new electrode in assembly and start design.
  4. Use Electrode  ImageActivate to activate any electrode component and switch to design ribbon.
  5. Electrode  ImageRepeat opens UI to assemble electrode model(s) again.
  6. Click Electrode  ImageCopy to create a copy of selected electrode(s) and associated data like drawing and manufacturing data.
  7. Click Electrode  ImageCheck to find interferences, calculate effective burn area and gap values.
  8. Organization  ImageAdd opens UI to add holders to the electrodes.
  9. Click Organization  Image Manufcaturing to create manufacturing files from template.
  10. Use Organization  Image Drawing to open drawing UI and create drawings for assembly and electrodes.
  11. Activate Organization  ImageBurnsheet to review data of all electrodes and adopt design changes.
  12. Click Organization  ImageOutput to save export data to STEP, IGES or custom formats.
  13. Click Organization  ImagePostprocessor to send data to EDM interfaces.
Commands Electrode  ImageAdd and Electrode  ImageActivate switch current ribbon to design ribbon. The design workflow contains following steps:
  1. Any individual surface set, rule-based surface set or selection function like Select  ImageSolid faces can be used to start design.
  2. Use Get Data  Image Cutout or Get Data  Image Copy Geometry to start solid or surface approach.
  3. Use Modeling  ImageRemove or Modeling  ImageReplace to remove geometry from the solid.
  4. Click Modeling  ImageAll to add all top surfaces that are not connected to FREE_FACE to selection buffer.
  5. Activate Modeling  ImageAttach to fill the gap between selected top surfaces and FREE_FACE with solid features.
  6. Activate Modeling  ImageBase to add a base to electrode solid and finish the design.
  7. Activate assembly in Model Tree or use Ctrl+A to return to process ribbon.
