When the SMARTAnnotate configuration is changed and saved with the new release via the Administration dialog, then the configuration won’t be backwards compatible with older versions of SMARTAnnotate.

This is due to conversions that are automatically applied to the XML type configuration files. These conversions are related on the one hand to enhancements explained on the following pages. On the other hand, they are related to quality assurance approaches.

Therefore, please use a test configuration for your tests with this new release. When this version shall be rolled-out for the users, make sure to open the Administration dialog and save the active configuration before.
